Are you looking for a way to spruce up your dining/eating area on the cheap? Cheap does not have to equal ugly. Take what you have and follow these directions. Or, add a ton of interest to the equation by adding mismatched chairs.
Revive your chairs with a coat of paint and reupholstered seat
cushions. Mix styles (look at yard sales, thrift store or find some on eBay), then pull
together the different looks with coordinating fabric.

How-to:
Remove the seat cushion. Prime the chair frame,
then spray-paint with Krylon, moving the can in an even, back-and-forth
motion; let dry. To cover the seat: Remove screws from base. Measure
and cut fabric, allowing an extra 2 inches all around. Center fabric on
seat, aligning pattern. With a staple gun, secure the center of each
side, pulling fabric taut; continue around base. Trim excess fabric.
Replace seat and screws.
Tips
- Krylon's H²0 line is making aerosol more eco-friendly: The
paint is water-based acrylic latex, has low odor, and cleans up with
soap and water.

Sometimes, it is the simple things, the things right under our nose,
that can create the loveliest of decorations to spruce things up around our home.

Do you have a favorite bowl or jar sitting around empty? Fill it up with apples or wooden eggs for Spring. Little pumpkins or nuts for fall. Ornaments for winter.
Maybe you have a collection of items: old doorknobs, napkin rings or game pieces. It's amazing how lovely even the simplest of items can become when resting in a lovely container.

What do you have in your home that is calling out to be showcased in such a way?

I loe spray paint and have used it just this way - to pull different styles of chairs together. Cheap and easy. I even pulled my old, ugly stove hood down and spray painted it.
