    grouping

Don't you just have about a zillion photos that you want the world to see?  It's so tempting to slap the latest photo of your sweetie into any available frame and call it done.  I've done that before and then wonder why my photos make me feel like I need to clean my house.  They looked so cluttered!  Here are some tricks to make your photo groupings work..

    frame on shelf

*Group like frames together–painted with painted, silver with silver, gold with gold, wood with wood.

    black and gold

*Have your photos finished in sepia or black and white.  I know this is sacrilegious to some of you but look how cohesive a grouping of sepia photos look together.  And look how the subjects just pop without the distraction of color.

*Group photos with other photos and a other neutral items like ironwork, plates and natural items. Try to avoid hanging a photographs next to artwork–they will compete with each other.

*Go for some BIG frames to really highlight your favorite photos.

Of course, you can do beautiful groupings of color photos as well but, that take a little more effort.  I am allergic to effort.  This is truly no fail!  Sometimes, I don't even peel off all the price tags on my photos–see if you can find it, it's been that way for years!  Go forth and group your photos and don't forget, that it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful!

      I love your photo groups!

I think what I've been doing wrong, in looking at your groupings, is I've been adding too many 8 x 10s with too many 5 x 7x and 4 x 6s. It just throws off the whole balance. And I like what you said about the sepia.

We have a big wall space over one couch, and maybe what I'll do is I'll fill it with lots of little photos. Your groups do look great…

I love the look of these similar frames much better than matching (exact same) frames.

      Great article!
